What do you want me to make?

—Leo Canton, Blacksmith (Rog)

Crafting is the process of turning component items, such as crafting materials into weapons and armor or upgrading normal items with item bonuses. There are seven skills associated with crafting and each crafting sheet lists which skills are required for the recipe. In most cases, crafted items have the "Elite" prefix in the name. For improving weapon attack or armor defense, see Enchanting.

Info:
It costs 7 skill points to unlock all crafting skills. Since higher level class skills cost more skill points to unlock, most players create separate characters that are dedicated to crafting. It is recommended to use a class that can freely teleport (Wizard or Summoner) for easier travel between cities. Otherwise, if you do not wish to skip class skills, unlock all class skills (level 50) before spending points on crafting skills.

Crafting skills

See also: Crafting leveling guide

There are 7 crafting skills, each cost 1 skill point to unlock. Manufacture allows you to craft items yourself using tools. Any additional skill(s) that are required to craft an item are listed on its crafting sheet.

  • Max skill levels are not dependent on the character level.
  • Crafting has a higher possibility of failure at lower levels, but as the Manufacture skill increases, the chance of failure can eventually be eliminated.
  • Increasing the Manufacture skill unlocks the ability to craft with higher level upgrade sheets. Using higher level upgrade sheets can give better quality item bonuses.

Blacksmiths & Tools

Primary article: Crafting Tool

You can craft items yourself using kits and the Manufacture skill or at a Blacksmith located in major cities. Using a Blacksmith is recommended at lower levels, as they have a fixed crafting level that affects success/failure, but may cost more money long-term.

Icon Name Uses
craft_tool01.gif Manufacturing Kit Used to create normal items from crafting sheets and materials.
craft_tool02.gif Upgrade Kit Used to upgrade normal items with Magic or Rare item bonuses from upgrade sheets and materials.

Recipes

Primary article: Crafting Sheet

There are a variety of crafting sheets / recipes; some can be bought from Apprentice Blacksmiths in town, but most are found as loot from monsters. Each sheet can tell you what item it can manufacture or upgrade, the required Manufacture level and crafting skills, and the necessary crafting materials for the recipe. The list of requirements vary depending on the sheet's use.

Crafting sheet examples

Materials

Primary article: Crafting Material

To craft an item, you must have the appropriate materials in your inventory to place in the crafting window. Crafting materials can be purchased from shops (gems, metals, yarn, etc.) in major cities and gathered as loot from monsters.

  • Each city has a different selection of materials in their Material Shop.
  • When farming monster loot, it is best to use a character that is within 2 levels of the monster. Drop rates diminish if there is too large of a level gap (ie. if they no longer drop money, they won't drop monster materials).

Crafting window
Crafting window with items

Crafting window

The crafting window can be opened by interacting with a Blacksmith, and selecting Craft, or by using the Manufacture skill.

The player must place the appropriate items in the crafting window to manufacture or upgrade items. Attempting to place the incorrect item will highlight the slot red and prevent placement.

  • The crafting sheet and crafting tool can be placed in the sheet slot (top left) and tool slot (top right).
  • Once a sheet is placed, the material slots (sides) are populated with the named crafting materials needed for the recipe - those items can be placed in their corresponding material slots.
  • If upgrading an item, the desired item must also be placed in the item slot (center).

Once the window is filled with the necessary items, clicking the Craft button at the bottom will consume the crafting items to attempt the action. See the Success or Failure sections for more information on crafting results.

Manufacturing items

The process of manufacturing items is fairly straightforward at its core: a player must get a crafting sheet, collect its required materials, unlock the appropriate skills, then create the item. There are many craftable armor, weapon, and mystical items. See Upgrading items for more information.

  2. Place the necessary items in their respective slots:
  3. Click Craft

Success or Failure

Skill XP is earned for the recipe's required skills, regardless of success or failure.

Success: Creating the item consumes the sheet, materials, and an amount of money.
Dialogue: "Success" is displayed in chat.
Failure: Failing to create the item consumes the sheet, materials, and an amount of money.
Dialogue: "Failed." is displayed in chat.

Upgrading items

The process of upgrading items involves using crafting sheets to upgrade normal items with item bonuses. Similar to manufacturing: a player must get a crafting sheet for the desired item type, collect its required materials, unlock the appropriate skills, then upgrade the item. See Manufacturing items for more information.

Upgrade Crafting Sheets: Level 1 Magic Accessory SheetLevel 3 Rare Armor SheetLevel 5 Magic Mystical Sheet

While upgrading and enchanting are terms used interchangeably, they are different actions with different results and requirements.

  • Upgrading increases the rarity by adding bonuses to item stats and character attributes.
    • When adding item bonuses, the color of the item name changes to reflect the rarity (magic or rare).
    • Upgrading requires an Upgrade Kit, a normal rarity item, and a magic or rare crafting sheet with the listed materials.
  • Enchanting increases the attack or defense stats specifically, does not require crafting tools or materials, and can only be done at a Blacksmith. See Enchanting for more information.

To upgrade an item:

  1. Open the crafting window by interacting with a Blacksmith or using the Manufacture skill.
  2. Place the necessary items in their respective slots:
    • Sheet: Magic or Rare Crafting Sheet
    • Tool: Upgrade Kit
    • Material(s): Crafting Material(s)
    • Item: Item to be upgraded
  3. Click Enchant

Success or Failure

Skill XP is earned for the recipe's required skills, regardless of success or failure.

Success: Upgrading the item consumes the sheet, materials, and an amount of money.
Dialogue: "Success" is displayed in chat.
Failure: Failing to upgrade the item consumes the sheet, materials, and an amount of money.
